Columbus, Wisconsin is a relatively small-town located about 30 miles Northeast of Madison, Wisconsin. There is a large history of tradition in this community of about 4500 people. The traditions can be found everywhere; from family businesses, to the schools and to the town itself.

At the "Four Corners," which is the townsfolks' name for the ONLY stop 'n' go light in town (until a few years ago when another light was put in on 16/60 and Dix Street) you will find Sharrow Drugs, Inc.

Today, Sharrow Drugs, Inc., is run by Nicholas Sharrow a registered pharmacist, and his sister, Margaret (Megs) Sharrow Agnew. In 1906, their grandfather, Lloyd Sharrow, left his family's farm and settled in Columbus. He started working in the community pharmacy that very same year. In 1925, he and a partner, purchased the pharmacy and in 1930, Lloyd owned the pharmacy outright. Later on Lloyd's son, Philip, became a pharmacist and evenutally purchased the business from his father.

In the Philip and Mary Sharrow family, there were 12 children: 4 boys and 8 girls. Three of the four boys have gone on to become pharmacists. Keeping up with tradition, the 4th generation of pharmacists from the Sharrow family to serve Columbus came to pass with Nicholas, Jr. becaming a pharmacist in 2007. Nick, Jr., and his wife, Nicole, also a pharmacist, both work at Sharrow Drugs.

According to Megs Sharrow Agnew, the store is still independently owned and operated. Nick Sharrow and Megs purchased the store in 1986.

When Nick and Megs' grandfather purchased the business, it was located in the storefront next to the present building. When the corner building became available, he purchased this one also and took out the walls to make it one large spacious drugstore.

With the introduction of HMOs, along with detailed insurance filings, paperwork and constant changes in regulations, there have been changes in the pharmacy business. This has been challenging, but the care of our customers remains first and foremost.

Sharrow Drugs, is an old-fashioned drugstore. They provide community members with their prescription drug needs with pharmacists on staff; they offer a wide selection of over-the-counter medication, Hallmark cards, gifts, chocolates, and home healthcare supplies.
